Our Support at the Lynx Decommissioning Events
We were delighted to be part of history as the Lynx helicopter was given its final send off.
The long-serving Lynx helicopter came to the end of its service for the Royal Navy in March 2017. An air parade for dignitaries from around the globe took place at RNAS Yeovilton; the HQ for the Frontline ‘Strike Deep’ 815 Squadron. The parade audience was then treated to our Lynx Wildcat beer, served remarkably from a Lynx helicopter. The bar was specially engineered from a Lynx airframe into a real ale bar; with two fully functioning hand pull pumps from which our beers were served.
The celebrations continued and the handcrafted bar went on to be used at a Hangar Party, where over 1,200 people gathered to send the Lynx off in style.
Over 70 firkins of our beer were supplied, half of which were the Lynx Wildcat, 4.3% ABV bronze hoppy centennial beer, originally brewed by us to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Yeovil-built Lynx helicopter.
Commenting on the events and Yeovil Ales’ involvement, Rob Sherwood, Managing Director said: “We were proud to support such a prestigious event and have our specially-brewed Lynx Wildcat served. I was also lucky enough to attend the event so saw first-hand what a great send off the Lynx had.”
