Rob Sherwood started out home brewing at a young age and spent time developing recipes and brewing techniques that remain to this day the cornerstone of Yeovil Ales' contemporary late hopping style. When brewing very small batches of home brewed beer, Rob was only ever interested in creating the best possible tasting brews. This value, combined with the team's dedication to producing consistently high-quality beer, enables us to be 100% confident that the beer we supply to our customers is the very best.
Brewing small batches of beer is nearly as time consuming as brewing on a larger scale and has all the same requirements, especially hygiene. Yeovil Ales aims to brew the cleanest freshest beer anywhere. We always minimise chemical cleaning and instead use very high pressure hot water and plenty of steam to sanitise our brewery and ensure no bacteria, other than our yeast, gets into the beer.
Summerset (4.1%) was our first beer launched and immediately won The Weymouth Oktoberfest in 2006, we went on to win the Gold Medal with Star Gazer (4.0%) at the SIBA South West Beer Competition in 2008. It was in 2008 that the company grew and our current Head Brewer, Dr Declan Teare, joined the team to further strengthen the brewery's offering. During 2010 we acquired the building next door and doubled our brewery capacity due to our year on year consistent growth.
The Yeovil Ales team shares a passion for perfect real ale and are hugely dedicated to quality, service and developing innovative new brews.
